First death on NSW roads over long weekend
(AAP) - A motorcyclist killed in western Sydney is the first casualty on the state's roads over the holiday long weekend.
In what police described as a "tragic start" to the short break, the 32-year-old man died in a crash at Lidcombe on Friday.
Almost 42,000 breath tests have been conducted since the state-wide police blitz Operation Slowdown began on Friday and 32 people have been charged for drink driving, police said on Saturday.
Meanwhile, at West Hoxton, in Sydney's west, two drivers, aged 24 and 29, have had their licenses suspended for alleged street racing.
Both will appear at Liverpool Local Court on November 17.
Also, at 3.45am (AEST) on Saturday, police clocked a learner driver at 99km/h in an 80km/h zone.
When the 19-year-old driver was stopped on the Riverina Highway at Blight, he was found to be in the vehicle on his own.
His licence suspended for three months.
The blitz ends at 11.59pm (AEST) on Monday, with double demerit points in effect throughout.
