Envoy Reiterates Iran's Strong Ties with Pakistan

TEHRAN (FNA)- Tehran's Ambassador to Islamabad Mashaallah Shakeri hailed the strong ties between Iran and Pakistan, and stressed that the two countries have and will always support each other.
Speaking in a meeting with the Chief Minister of Pakistan's Sindh province Syed Qaim Ali Shah, the envoy praised Iran and Pakistan's longstanding relations, and said and if we go back, there had been historical, traditional, educational, religious and cultural relations between both countries, which are being strengthened day by day.
Shakeri said both countries respect each other and have always supported mutual interests and understanding.
He maintained the people and the Iranian government united stand with the Pakistan's government and its people.
He also lauded and appreciated the warm welcome extended to the Iranian interior minister on Thursday by Sindh chief minister and Sindh government.
Shakeri said there had been trade and business relations between Iran and the city of Karachi, which was nearer center of trade. He further assured that the government and people of Iran would further provide relief goods and other assistance, so that the rain-affected people are provided with relief and are rehabilitated earlier.
The Chief Minister of Sindh, for his part, said the Persian had remained official language of Sindh for long time. He said renowned preacher and poet Hazrat Makhdoom Nooh of Hala did the first translation of the Holy Quran in Persian, while hundreds of poets, writers and researchers have contributed a lot for the promotion of Persian with Sindhi language.
Shah highlighted the situation created due to heavy and unprecedented rains, which have damaged the economy of the province, and thanked the Iranian government for providing relief goods for rain-affected people.
