Macedonia interested in broader cooperation with Russia.
SKOPJE, October 3 (Itar-Tass) -- Macedonia is interested in a broader
cooperation with Russia that was always based on friendly relations,
Macedonian Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska told Itar-Tass.
"We are united by the history and culture, as well as economic
interests," she noted. "Taking into account the foresaid factors, the
position of our partners from Russia that consider Russia as the greatest
friend of Macedonian people among the Slavic countries does not sound as a
protocol address," she pointed out.
Jankulovska noted that she is ready to accept an invitation from her
Russian counterpart Rashid Nurgaliyev to visit the 15th international
exhibition of means for provision of state security Interpolitex-2011 in
Moscow on October 25-28. The interior ministers may sign an agreement on
cooperation between the Interior Ministries of the two countries at the
exhibition.
"The signing of a bilateral agreement plays a major role for us. I
would like to note that the political willpower and the readiness to build
up our cooperation exist. If all the details of a pending agreement are
agreed upon soon, it will be a great honour for me to visit Moscow," the
minister remarked.
"The agreement, which between the Russian drug watchdog and the
Macedonian Interior Ministry signed on August 25 in order cooperate in the
struggle against the trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances,
became a remarkable event," she said. Meanwhile, the countries "should
focus on Russian-Macedonian joint efforts to combat terrorism and the
structures, which fund it," the Macedonian interior minister concluded.
