Iran Ups Non-Oil Exports by 40%

TEHRAN (FNA)- Senior Iranian Customs officials announced that the country's non-oil exports increased by 40% in the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21-September 22, 2011).
Customs Administration Director Abbas Me'marnejad said Iran's non-oil exports, including gas condensates, stood at $20.48bln in the first 6 months of the current year, showing a 40% increase.
According to the official, the country's non-oil exports mainly included gas condensates, mineral fuels, chemical products, plastics, fruits, nuts, fertilizers and carpets.
Me'marnejad further cited China as the major destination of Iranian goods in the mentioned period, followed by the UAE, Iraq, India, and Afghanistan.
The exported goods weighed around 37.3mln tons, 12.3% higher than the relevant figures in the last year, he added.
Iran has recent surged its non-oil exports as the country's government has voiced strong support for measures and plans to boost non-oil exports.
