FE int'l economic forum to open in Khabarovsk on Oct 4.

VLADIVOSTOK, October 3 (Itar-Tass) -- Delegations from 12 countries
and 19 regions of Russia will take part in the fifth Far Eastern
international economic forum which begins working in Khabarovsk on October
4. It was reported at a press conference on the results of preparations
for the forum.
Some 700 delegates will arrive in Khabarovsk on Monday to attend the
forum. The Chinese and Japanese delegations will the most numerous ones.
Representatives the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and
other international organizations will also take part in the forum,
ITAR-TASS learnt at the press service of the government of the Khabarovsk
Territory.
Top leaders of a number of federal ministries and departments, in
particular, Russian Deputy Minister of Regional Development Roman Panov,
Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alexander Chernogorov and deputy
head of the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service Andrei Tsarikovsky will
deliver reports at plenary meetings. Director of the Institute of National
Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences, full member of
the Academy Viktor Ivanter will make a report on prospects for Russia's
economic growth.
This year the forum's slogan is "Far Eastern priorities in Strategy
2020." The programme includes several plenary meetings and work at
sections devoted to the study of issues of socio-economic development of
Far Eastern regions in the context of renovating Strategy of Russia's
Development up to 2020, discussion of effective mechanisms of implementing
the strategy of socio-economic development of the Far East and the Baikal
Region for a period until 2025, working out of recommendations aimed to
speed up the development of regions of Eastern Russia and raise Far
Eastern residents' standards of life.
Traditionally, during the work of the forum, an interregional Amur
trade and industrial fair will open. This year eight out of ten Far
Eastern regions, as well as representatives of other Russian territories
will present their products within its framework.
