Ahmadinejad: Mideast Conflict Ends If Zionists Occupiers Go Home
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is rooted in the occupation of the Palestinian lands by the Zionists, and clashes can thus be finished if the occupiers return to their countries of origin.
"The conflict between Israel and Palestine could be resolved if the Zionist occupiers of Palestine would return to their countries of origin, thus allowing Palestinian refugees to return to theirs," Ahmadinejad said on the sidelines of 5th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada in Tehran on Sunday.
The Iranian president said "the simplified version of the Leader's view about Palestine is that everyone should go home".
If "the backers of the Zionist regime want to solve the issue... the solution is simple ... everyone should go home."
"Some poor people were brought to Palestine on the promise of security and jobs while they turned the Palestinian people into refugees... So now Palestinians should go home and those brought to Palestine should go to theirs," Ahmadinejad said.
Ahmadinejad's comments came after the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, rejected a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue, saying the Palestinian bid for statehood at the United Nations is doomed to fail.
The leader said Palestinians should not limit themselves to seeking a country based on the pre-1967 borders, because all the occupied lands belongs to Palestinians.
"We neither propose dumping the migrant Jews in the sea nor the UN arbitration, rather our proposal includes a referendum to be participated by all Palestinians," the Leader said in his inaugural address to the opening of the 5th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada on Saturday.
"Today the West is standing on a crossroad and it should either leave its age-old bullying and recognize the rights of the Palestinians or wait for harder blows in the near future," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
