Samsung's domestic mobile phone market share dips in Sept.

SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. said Monday it remained the top wireless phone seller in South Korea in September, although its overall market share slightly dipped, the company said Monday.
The electronics giant said its market share in September stood at a solid 57.3 percent, down from 59 percent in the previous month. The dip was partly attributed to the 17 percent market contraction in the cited month, it said.
The company, however, said the latest figures represent the fifth month in a row that its domestic market share surpassed the 55 percent mark.
The strong showing reflects the continuing popularity of the company's Galaxy S2 smartphones that have sold over 3.8 million units since it was launched in the country on April. 29, it said.
Strong demand for smartphones which accounted for over 81 percent of the 1.78 million mobile phones sold nationwide in South Korea in September also contributed to Samsung's good showing, the company said.
The company, meanwhile, said that besides the Galaxy S2 phones, it sold 3.2 million Galaxy S smartphones and its variants this year, along with over 600,000 Galaxy Tab tablet PCs.
