Omani Commander Lauds Iranian Air Force's Overhaul Capability

TEHRAN (FNA)- Visiting Commander of Oman's Royal Air Force Major General Yahya bin Rashed al-Jomeh said he is deeply surprised to see that the Iranian Air Force enjoys such a high capability of overhauling different types of aircrafts.
"I was surprised by the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF)'s overhaul, maintenance and logistics capability," Rashed al-Jomeh told reporters on the sidelines of a visit to Mehrabad Air Base Overhaul Center.
Iran overhauls different types of fighter jets, cargo planes and passenger planes, including strategic Mig-29 and F-14 fighter jets.
The Omani commander also said that his visit to Iran has provided a good chance for exchange of information between Iran and Oman and stronger military ties between the two countries.
During the visit, Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) for Coordination Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh pointed to the excellent position of the two countries in the region, and said the strengthening of ties between the two countries would help the region in establishing security and removing the need for the presence of the trans-regional countries.
Over the last few years, Iran and Oman have expanded military ties and cooperation specially over security in the Persian Gulf.
The two countries signed a security agreement in August 2009.
Later in August 2010, the two Persian Gulf states signed an agreement to further boost mutual cooperation in the field of defense.
In December, the Iranian parliament approved a bill that allows Tehran to implement an agreement on security cooperation and coordination with Oman.
