Sudanese Speaker Praises Iran's Support for Palestinian Cause

TEHRAN (FNA)- Sudan's parliament Speaker Ahmad Ibrahim Al-Tahir praised Iran's support for the Palestinian cause, and thanked Tehran for hosting the International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada.
Speaking in a meeting with Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Tahir said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a main supporter of the Palestinian cause and arranging and holding this conference at the present sensitive juncture is highly important for the Palestinian people."

He further noted his country's good relations with Iran, and said, "Sudanese are deeply interested in the Islamic Republic of Iran and praise the logical stances of the Islamic Republic of Iran's officials in various regional and international grounds."

To end his remarks, the Sudanese speaker asked the Iranian parliament to render increasing support to the expansion of the bilateral ties and cooperation between the two Muslim states.

Larijani, for his part, said the recent conference in Tehran in support of the Palestinian Intifada was a renewed attempt to help restore the true rights of the Palestinian nation.

He believed that the participation of outstanding political and cultural figures from various world countries in the gathering indicated the high importance they attached to the issue of Palestine.

Larijani further described Sudan as an important country in Africa and said the Iranian parliament welcomes any expansion of political and economic ties with Khartoum.
