Search for two missing tourists started in Khabarovsk Terr.

VLADIVOSTOK, October 5 (Itar-Tass) - A search for two tourists
reported missing in the taiga has been started in Khabarovsk Territory on
Wednesday, an official in the press service of the Far Eastern regional
center of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (RME) has told Itar-Tass.
A 29-year-old girl and a 30-year-old man from Vladivostok set out on a
hike to Khabarovsk Territory on September 23. They were planning to climb
mountain peaks in the area of Solontsovy (saline soil) Settlement. Upon
covering about 114 km along the itinerary, the tourists intended to to
return to the settlement by Sept 30. However, they did not return by that
time and there is no phone contact with them. Their relatives applied to
rescuers for help on Tuesday night.
The RME official pointed out, "This group was not registered as a
tourist one with the rescue services of Primorsky (maritime) and
Khabarovsk Territories and they did not inform them of their itinerary".
In mid-September, Far Eastern rescuers already encountered a similar
situation. At that time, seven tourists were reported missing in the taiga
in the north of Primorye. A search for them continued for several days
with the use of aviation. Those missing were found safe and sound.
