Iran, UAE Discuss Ways of Expanding Consular Cooperation
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iran-UAE joint Consular Committee held a sixth meeting in Tehran on Tuesday in a bid to discuss prospects of consular and visa cooperation and explore ways of facilitating reciprocal visits by the two countries' nationals.
Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Iranian Expatriates' Affairs Hassan Qashqavi headed the Iranian side, while the UAE delegation was presided by UAE Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Tarek Ahmad Al Heidan.
UAE Ambassador to Tehran Saif Mohammad Obaid Al Za'abi and representatives from various departments and Ministries from both countries were also present at the meeting.
During the talks, Qashqavi emphasized the development of bilateral relations between Iran and the UAE, and pointed out that high level visits are evidence of the good relations between both countries in various fields.
Al Heidan, for his part, conveyed the greetings of Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Foreign Minister, and said that Shaikh Abdullah pays special attention to the relations between both countries and ensuring that the work of the joint Consular Committee is successful.
Al Heidan pointed out the historic, religious and geographic bonds between the UAE and Iran, and reaffirmed the importance of addressing Consular-related issues to further develop cooperation and progress.
Al Heidan reaffirmed that relations and high level communication between both countries are continuing, and expressed his thanks and gratitude for the hospitality shown to the visiting UAE delegation.
Al Heidan expressed the hope that the current meeting would yield positive results. He also praised the work and efforts of Al Za'abi and Mohammad Reza Fayad, Iranian Ambassador to the UAE.
