Visit of US special envoy for Afghanistan, Pakistan to Tajikistan put
DUSAHBE, October 6 (Itar-Tass) -- Talks of Special Envoy for
Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossmann with President Emomali Rakhmon
scheduled for Thursday have been postponed for an indefinite time.
As ITAR-TASS learnt at the US embassy in Dushanbe, the airliner with
the US special envoy on board couldn't land in the capital airport in the
morning because of a strong sandy storm which hit this Central Asian
republic.
The time of the US special envoy's arrival will be announced as soon
as the situation clears, a representative of the US diplomatic mission
said. According to the earlier spread information, within the framework of
a working tour of Central Asian countries, Grossmann planned to discuss
with Rakhmon the US strategy of "New Silk Way."
Because of the sandy storm which came from Afghanistan the work of the
majority of the republic's airports, including the Dushanbe one, remains
to be paralysed for the second day. Bad visibility on roads affected the
motor transport traffic. Tajik weather forecasters promise the improvement
of weather only by the evening.
