RF Chief of General Staff, SACEUR to discuss military cooperation.

MOSCOW, October 10 (Itar-Tass) -- Chief of the Russian General Staff
General Nikolai Makarov will have negotiations with Supreme Allied
Commander Europe (SACEUR) US Admiral James Stavridis here on Monday.
The top military officials "will discuss the condition and prospects
of Russian-NATO military cooperation, will exchange views on the problem
of the European missile shield and will consider topical issues to ensure
regional and international security," the press service of the Russian
Defence Ministry told Itar-Tass.
US Admiral James Stavridis will also meet with Commander of the
Russian Navy Admiral Vladimir Vysotsky to discuss "Russian-NATO
cooperation in fighting piracy and the prospects for cooperation in the
anti-terrorist NATO operation Active Endeavour," the press service
reported.
On October 11, Stavridis will arrive in Volgograd to meet with the
Command of the Southern Military District and to study the tasks and the
daily activities of the district troops. Volgograd will be the last
stopover in a Russian visit of the NATO commander.
