Chiefs of CIS news agencies to discuss ties in common info space.
BAKU, October 10 (Itar-Tass) -- The Council of the chiefs of the
state-run news agencies in the CIS states (the CIS Information Council)
will have its 14th meeting here on Monday to discuss cooperation in the
common information space in the year of the 20th anniversary of the
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The members of the CIS Information Council will debate various issues,
including multilateral and bilateral cooperation.
The CIS Information Council will also discuss the coverage of the 20th
CIS anniversary, which is marked this year, as well as preparations for a
common photo exhibition, which will be devoted to this event. The CIS
Information Council will also focus on the events, which are held in the
Year of Cultural and Historical Heritage declared in the CIS.
The CIS Information Council was founded in 1995. ITAR-TASS Director
General Vitaly Ignatenko heads the council. The CIS Information Council
brings together the chiefs of the state-run news agencies in Azerbaijan,
Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Tajikistan.
Officials from the Ukrinform state-run news agency and the CIS Executive
Council will also participate in the CIS Information Council meeting.
