Seoul shares open lower on bank, shipyard losses

SEOUL (Yonhap) - South Korean stocks started lower Wednesday, as investors sold shares of banks and shipyards following their latest gains, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 0.18 percent, or 3.24 points, to 1,791.78 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Financial companies and shipbuilders led the fall, following the KOSPI's four-session winning streak.
KB Financial Group dipped about 1 percent and Hyundai Heavy Industries declined nearly 2 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,171.85 won to the greenback as of 9:15 a.m., down 7.35 won from Tuesday's close.
