RF-EU aviation forum to deal with ways to deepen int'l coop'n.
ST PETERSBURG, October 12 (Itar-Tass) - Ways to deepen international
cooperation in the field of air transport will be discussed at a
Russia-European Union (EU) aviation forum that opens here on Wednesday.
The forum has been organized by the Russian Ministry of Transport and
the European Commission, an official in the city administration's
commiittee on transport-and-transit policy has told Itar-Tass.
On the Russian side, the forum is to be attended by the leading
government officials, the heads of sectoral ministries and agencies,
directors of foremost aircraft industry enterprises, executives of major
air companies and air transportation enterprises of the country.
The EU delegation will include European Commission leaders and
representatives of the Transport Ministries of a number of countries.
The sides intend to consider such matters as abolition of the
"appointed air carrier" notion, the possibility of replacement of existing
bilateral air service agreements by a single Agreement with the EU.
Participants in the forum will also exchange views on matters aimed at
ensuring the ecologically sustainable development of air transport, and
trade in quotas for gas emissions into the atmosphere.
The agenda also includes items concerning prospects for the operation
of trans-Siberian air routes and related commercial agreements, the
introduction of new technologies to the air traffic control system, and
possibilities for the matching of aeronavigation systems and
standardization of flight procedures.
It is also planned to discuss bilateral interaction in the field
flight safety and aviation security, as well as prospects for the
development of airport infrastructure.
