Austria, Azeri presidents to discuss coop'n in gas sector.

BAKU, October 12 (Itar-Tass) - Cooperation in the gas sector will be
the main subject of discussion at Azeri-Austrian summit talks here on
Wednesday. President Heinz Fischer of Austria arrived in the capital of
Azerbaijan this past Tuesday for a two-day official visit.
According to diplomatic sources, the official part of Fischer's visit
includes talks with Azerbaijani President Ilkham Aliyev in a one-on-one
format and later on in a broader format with the participation of the two
countries' delegations.
Considering that Austria is one of important partners for the Nabucco
consortium, analysts here suppose that the Austrian and Azerbaijani
leaders will consider matters concerning the deliery of gas from the
Caspian Sea region to Europe via that pipeline and through other
alternative routes of supply suggested by European Union countries and by
leading companies of the world. Neither is it ruled out that Fischer and
Aliyev will also discuss mutual investment and determine priorities for
bilateral economic cooperation.
The political agenda will focus on items relating to Azerbaijan's
integration into Europe and efforts towards settling the conflict over
Nagorno-Karabakh. A number of documents are expected to be signed as a
result of talks between Heinz Fischer and Ilkham Aliyev. The discussion of
economic interaction resources will be continued at an Azeri-Austrian
business forum.
Within the scope of his visiit to Azerbaijan, President Fischer is
also to meet with Azeri Prime Minister Artur Rasi-zade and Parliament
Speaker Oktai Asadov. The Austrian Head of State is also expected to
attend a Baku ceremony marking the unveiling of a monument to his great
compatriot -- composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Later in the day the President of Austria will proceed on his way to
Turkmenistan -- yet another gas-rich Caspian country.
