United Russia to unveil election program on October 19
MOSCOW, October 13 (Itar-Tass) - The United Russia Party will unveil
its program address on October 19, Secretary of the General Council's
presidium Sergei Neverov told a news briefing on Wednesday.
The Party's election program is based on speeches by President Dmitry
Medvedev and Party leader Prime Minister Vladimir Putin at the 12th
Congress of United Russia and the people's program that was drawn while
taking into account numerous proposals from citizens.
The program comprises 83 sections. Each region "will see itself" in
the program," Neverov promised underlining that the document leans on
people's requests and wishes voiced in Russian provinces.
The program essentially offers a course toward building an innovative
economy, strengthening democratic institutions, and creating a modern
law-governed state where the quality of life and citizens' welfare should
improve. It focuses on individual, Neverov stressed.
Among the priority guidelines are health care, education, creating at
least 25 million jobs, and meeting all social obligations.
"We talk about eradicating corruption, further humanization of
criminal legislation and tougher punishment for violent crimes," the
United Russia official noted.
"Also, we talk freedom and justice that must be available to all; the
party will be seeking to increase internal and external security and the
effectiveness of the police, and calls for powerful armed forces," Neverov
said.
The program pays special attention to comprehensive funding of R & D.
The documents sets the task of doubling the volume of road construction
and achieving complete food security for the country in five years.
