S. Korea, Ireland hold talks on economic cooperation

SEOUL, Oct. 14 (Yonhap) -- The foreign ministers of South Korea and Ireland held talks in Seoul on Friday to discuss ways to bolster economic exchanges between them, an official said.
Ireland's Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Eamon Gilmore arrived in Seoul on Thursday for a three-day visit that includes talks with South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Min Dong-seok and Unification Minister Yu Woo-ik.
Gilmore and Min were expected to "exchange views on bilateral matters, such as ways to strengthen substantive cooperation in the wake of the effectuation of the Korea-EU FTA and trade issues," Foreign Ministry spokesman Cho Byung-jae said.
The free trade agreement went into effect on July 1 this year, bringing together South Korea, Asia's fourth-largest economy, with the 27-member European Union, the world's largest economic bloc.
