Superjet plans to sell 1000 aircraft in 20 years.
VERONA, October 28 (Itar-Tass) -- The Russian-Italian Superjet
International joint venture plans to sell a thousand Sukhoi Superjet-100
regional aircraft in the coming 20 years, company CEO Carlo Logli old the
Russian-Italian cooperation forum in Verona on Thursday.
Superjet International, a joint venture between Italian Alenia
Aeronautica aerospace company and Russian Sukhoi aircraft maker, is
engaged in international marketing of the new aircraft where it is
expected to compete with Embraer and Bombardier projects.
The first Superjet-100 was delivered to Armenia in April 2011. In June
Russia's Aeroflot began commercial flights from Moscow to St. Petersburg
and Nizhni Novgorod.
Paolo Pininfarina, President of Pininfarina car design firm, told Tass
his company joined effort with Alenia Aeronautica and presented in Verona
the design of Superjet-100 for western markets.
"It is a very important and beautiful innovation project" which is to
be completed in 2012, he said.
"We designed the complete interior of the aircraft and the market
reaction was positive," Pininfarina said adding it is the first experience
of his firm in commercial aviation.
"We received dozens of orders and are looking forward when aircraft
carrying Pininfarina inscription appear in the sky," he added.
The next stage will be the adaptation of Superjet-100 to the
requirements of various countries, he said.
