Iranian reformist daily Etemad temporarily banned

TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (MNA) – The Tehran public prosecutor’s office on Sunday ordered the closure of the newspaper Etemad for two months for disseminating lies and insulting officials. According to Etemad director Elias Hazrati, one of the main reasons for the shutdown was the publication of an interview with Ali Akbar Javanfekr, the media adviser to President Ahmadinejad, in which he spoke against the critics of the “deviant” current (a designation used against certain members of Ahmadinejad’s inner circle).
