YTL To Feature Julio Iglesias For Its Concert

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- YTL Corporation Bhd will hold a free concert by Grammy Award winner, Julio Iglesias, on the streets of Jalan Bukit Bintang on Dec 1, to celebrate the new cutting edge look of Starhill Gallery. Its group managing director Francis Yeoh said the YTL Concert of Celebration was also a part of a series of YTL concerts held since 1994 to celebrate the genesis of Bintang Walk and the rebirth of Starhill Gallery. "It is an occasion for celebration as the new facade of Starhill Gallery is the first of its kind in Malaysia, constructed using lightweight steel and state-of-the-art glass technology used for the pyramid at the Louvre in Paris," he told a press conference, here on Tuesday. Yeoh said for the first time the concert would be going digital and broadcast live to the world via the internet, powered by YES 4G internet, the world's most advanced nationwide 4G network. He said this innitiative gave an opportunity for Malaysia to promote its culture, tradition and development as well as to showcase Malaysia's internet capabilities to the world. He said YTL will also be positioning big screens all over Jalan Bukit Bintang to allow the general public to enjoy the 90-minute performance. YTL had previously staged concerts by world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli at the Singapore Botanic Gardens in 2010, the late Luciano Pavarotti in Pangkor Laut, and the Three Tenors, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Pavarotti, in Bath, United Kingdom, in 2003. Yeoh said Starhill Gallery will also be officially re-launched by the Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin on the same day at 3pm, in the company of Iglesias. -- BERNAMA Malaysia
