Referees to be trained for Vientiane Games 2009

(KPL) The Lao National Sports Committee will train 407 referees and their assistants to upgrade their ability and skills before opening the Vientiane Games next year.
A member of the SEA Games Organising Committee, Mr Phouvanh Vongsouthi, said last week the committee will kick off training course for local referees and their assistants early next year in Vientiane.
Some referees for the training in Vientiane will be selected at the coming national games in Champassak.
Football, mouay, boxing, volleyball, shuttlecock, sepak takraw and archery federations all have internationally trained referees. But the referees of 18 other sports need to be trained to meet international requirements.
The Lao Karatedo Federation does not have its own international qualified referees, but the World Karatedo Federation and the Asian Karatedo Federation have pledged to provide it adjudicators.
Twenty four sports to compete at the SEA Games 2009 include athletics, swimming, archery, badminton, snooker, boxing, mouay, football, golf, judo, karatedo, sepak takraw, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball, kick-boxing, wushu, petanque, boat racing, rugby and wrestling.
