Gold export reaches USD 113 million
(KPL) The export of gold in the first three quarters of 2007-08 fiscal year has reached over US$ 525 million, increased by 37.6 per cent from the same period of last year.
The Import and Export Department, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said last week the export of 56,477 tonnes of copper in the first nine months of this fiscal year reached almost US$ 400 million.
The country also raked in over US$ 10 million from exporting lignite, zinc and tin.
In addition the export of diamond has brought US$ 22 million to the country, excluding US$ 16 million from cut diamond. It is also expected that the annual export of industrial products and handicrafts in this 2007-08 period will be worth US$ 894 million.
