Iraqi and U.S. researchers refer to Turkish state archives the most

ANKARA (A.A) - Iraqi and U.S. researchers referred to Turkish state archives the most in 2010, according to figures of Turkish statistical board, TurkStat.
According to TurkStat's cultural statistics, Foreign researchers are also interested in Turkish state archives that shed light on the history of Republic of Turkey and the Ottoman Empire.
Around 3,478 people referred to Turkish state archives in 2010. 3,000 of them were Turks and the rest 478 was foreign researchers.
Fifty of the foreign researchers were from Iraq, 42 of them were Americans and 34 were Japanese.
Iraqi researchers investigated history of cities, and the U.S. researchers resorted to Turkish archives regarding foreign policy issues.
Japanese researchers were mainly interested in education and culture.
A total of 378 Turkish researchers were interested in history of cities, 64 of them investigated Armenian issue, and 69 researchers read about migration-people exchange-population issues.
Moreover, 2,751 of 3,478 researches resorted to Ottoman archives, and 727 to the archives of the Republic of Turkey.
