Tehreek Jaferia To Stage Protest On Jan 20 Condemning Shi'a Killings

Islamabad, Jan 19, IRNA – Chief of Tehreek Nizhat-e-Jaferia Pakistan, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi on Wednesday announced to stage a countrywide protest on January 20 to condemn a blast that killed 22 mourners in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province. On January 15th a bomb targeted a procession marking the chehlum of Imam Hussain (P) in the city of Khanpur. Addressing a press conference in the city of Multan, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi condemned the killing of mourners of Imam Hussain (P) adding that anti-state elements were involved in the killing of peaceful Shi'a Muslims. He vowed that Millat-e-Jaffaria Pakistan would freely perform the Imam Hussain's mourning cermonies in the country saying that the constitution of the country has allowed us to observe Imam Hussain's mourning ceremonies at anywhere in the country. He warned that the Shi'a community of the country would not accept any parliamentary restriction on Imam Hussain's mourning rituals, saying that holding rituals for Imam Hussain (P) is our constitutional right. He condemned the failure of the government to provide security to mourners of Imam Hussain (P). Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi said that mourning for Imam Hussain (P) and other religious leaders is the message of peace saying that the bomb blast and target killing of Shi'a Muslims would not scare us./end
