Iran-Pakistan Firm In Ties: Deputy Speaker

Islamabad, Jan 21, IRNA -- The Deputy Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi has said that Iran and Pakistan have a history of eternal ties of religion, culture and history and both have common views and perceptions on all regional global issues. He expressed these views while talking to Ali Reza Haghighian, Ambassador-designated of the Islamic Republic of Iran who called on the Deputy Speaker in the Parliament House, yesterday. The Deputy Speaker said that the challenges confronting Muslim Ummah can be resolved through forging unity among Muslim countries, a statement from the parliament house said. He further said that misperceptions in the western countries about Islam needed to dispel. He said that Pakistan believed in peaceful resolution of international problems and wanted peace and security in the region as it was essential for prosperity and development of the region. The Iranian ambassador, Ali Reza Haghighian, said that Iran and Pakistan have similar views in different regional and International issues. He said that there was need to enhance more cooperation between Iran and Pakistan for the benefit of both nations. Haghighian said that Pakistan was a brother Muslim country and Iran has always supported it on all regional and international forums. 'Pakistan's strength was Iran’s strength,' he said./end
