KAHRAMAA Spends QR 60 Billion on Developing Electricity and Water Networks

Doha, February 06 (QNA) -Chairman of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) Engineer Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari said that the corporation has spent during the last five years more than QR 60 billion on development projects and expansions of electricity and water networks. Addressing the Middle East Electricity and Water Conference and Exhibition Monday , Al Kuwari said that the company will continue in this direction by investing in infrastructure projects for transport and distribution of networks in the next five years. He added that KAHRAMAA would soon announce the signing of contracts for the tenth phase of the expansion of electricity transmission network with a total budget of 5 billion riyals, pointing out that KAHRAMAA recently assigned the contract advisory services contract to design huge water tanks project, as a part of the national initiative to increase water strategic reserve to cover the country's need of water for seven days. He pointed out that KAHRAMAA has more major projects aimed at improving customer services, especially the remote meter reading, of which the pilot phase began to be circulated to all real estate developers and expected to be completed by 2016. He stressed that the conference is the largest industry events held in the State of Qatar and the Middle East, reflecting international confidence that the Qatari economy and its development gained, particularly in the electricity and water sectors, which are the main area of work for KAHRAMAA. He pointed out that Qatar has become an economic center, due the potential for growth in various sectors that resulted from the vision and wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He said that the main interest in Kahramaa as a service provider. He also expressed organization's aspirations to adopt partnership between the public and private sectors to strengthen its position in the market, confirming that it will work through this conference to invite to all potential partners to contribute to this aspect.
