ROTA Organizes iEARN Workshops for Teachers

Doha, February 07 (QNA) - Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) organization is due to hold two workshops in March under the International Education and Resource Network (iEARN-Qatar) program for teacher development. iEARN is a non-profit organization that connects schools and youth organizations worldwide via a virtual network to empower young people, encourage inter-scholastic collaboration, and debate world issues in real time. ROTA is the sole representative for iEARN in Qatar since 2008. The first workshop takes place on March 3 and aims to introduce iEARN and iEARN projects to the participants, providing the teachers with the tools to implement projects in their classroom, and to collaborate online with their peers globally through the iEARN network. The second workshop is set to be held on March 8 under the title "iEARN-Qatar and ROTA Knowledge Network". The workshop will be a more advanced course focusing on supporting teachers in applying iEARN projects. Participant teachers will have the opportunity at the workshop to gain more knowledge of Project-Based Learning (PBL). ROTA Director Essa Al Mannai said that participant teachers will benefit from the vast resources and the tools available at ROTA Knowledge Network and web portal in addition to having the opportunity to collaborate with an international community of educators. Since 2008, 322 teachers have benefited from the training courses and workshops organized by ROTA Knowledge Network and 350 teachers have enrolled in its web portal. In 2013, ROTA will host the global iEARN Conference that will see experts from all over the world discuss education-related issues and enhancing cooperation between educational institutions. (QNA)
