Juvenile Police and Social Rehab Centre Sign MoU
Doha, February 08 (QNA) - The Juvenile Police Department (JPD) of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Social Rehabilitation Center (Al Owain).
The JPD Director Nasser Abdulaziz Al Musallam and Al Owain Director Mohammed Rashid Al Al Nuaimi signed the MoU at JPD headquarters, according a media statement from the MoI.
The MoU calls for co-operation in protection of juveniles from social delinquency and what affects their future and work to create the right climate for the development of capacities and capabilities of the juveniles with social deviations to teach them self-reliance.
The MoU also includes co-operation for developing working methods and joint programmes for the care and rehabilitation of juveniles from delinquency. It aims to spread the culture of protection and providing various counselling services.
The MoU also calls for exchange of experiences, information and statistical data related to juveniles and employing the opportunities available for training police cadres in protecting juveniles. It includes conducting research and studies to determine the methods of diversion and means of treating it and issuing periodicals, pamphlets and brochures.
Brigadier Nasser Abdul Aziz Al Musallam said the signing of the MoU between the Department and the Center aims to strengthen relations with civil society organizations to engage them in solving problems related to juveniles as they have the technical cadres capable to do research and psycho-social rehabilitation.
He further stressed the need of co-operation especially in the area of studies and research on cases of deviant behaviour and the surrounding environment, either at home or school, to address the root causes of deviation. (QNA)
