Siham Badi : Doha's Meeting Enhances International and Regional Partnerships on Women
Doha , February 13 (QNA) - Tunisian Minister of Women Affairs and Family, Siham Badi said here on Monday that the third ministerial meeting of NAM (Non -Aligned Movement) countries, concerning the women advancement being held in Doha, forms a crucial stage for setting up international and regional partnerships that enhances the political, economic and social role of women in Arab Countries.
In an exclusive press satement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) today, Badi said that the meeting is an important opportunity to look at the advanced experiences in terms of women advancement and enabling them on all sides, in addition to setting up agreements and partnerships with the advanced developing countries in this field.
She referred to the Qatari experience in the field of enabling women and the role they play in the progress and advancement of the state, particularly in the economical one. "Qatar is an advanced and excelled country. Exchanging experiences between Qatar and Tunisia is inevitable either in the field of economy or in terms of enhancing women s role and enabling them," Badi said.
The Tunisian minister pointed out that the Qatari and Tunisian women have common factors of language and religion that could enable both sides to exchange political, economic, and social experiences that would bring in mutual benefits.
On her statement to QNA, Badi presented the women s ability to bring about change and advancement in societies ..citing the martyred and injured women of different ages of the Tunisian Revolution to acquire freedom and dignity. She added that the role of the Tunisian women continues to contribute to saving the Revolution s acquirements and achieving its goals throughout a democratic path initializing a new country that holds the slogan of freedom and dignity away from the tyranic and despotic unilateral regime.
Touching on the National Constitutional Council in Tunisia, Siham Badi pointed out that the women form up to 25% of the council s seats in addition to their role in forming the new legislations that will run the state.
Badi further said, " There is no fear on the Tunisian woman today as she, along with the civil society organizations, is guaranteeing her rights and working with all means on protecting her acquirements and boosting them." (QNA)
