QU Sets Up an Orientation Session for New Students
Doha , February 15 (QNA) - Male Students Section of the Admission Department at Qatar University organized Wednesday a mandatory orientation session for the new male students enrolling into Spring 2012 Semester. The session being held at Ibn Khaldoun Hall and attended by a large number of QU's academic figures and new male students, is aimed at introducing the students to QU's laws and disciplines, registering for classes, familiarizing them with their academic programs, and connecting them to a direct interaction with the different departments and colleges of QU.
In a statement on this occasion Head of the admission administration, Aisha bint Abdulrahman Al Thani said that this session was the first meeting between the University and the male students of Spring 2012 Semester, noting that this day came as a beginning to a new chapter in the student s life of starting the college phase and what it includes of experiences and skills the student acquires before getting involved in the job market.
This step came in the context of helping the new students in planning and organizing their studying plans as well as providing them with advices and recommendations to achieve their target GPA s (Grade Point Average). In this regard, a presentation entitled "Keep Aware" involved guiding the students to the importance of checking their academic calendar, getting committed to the registration and Add / Drop deadlines, Exams and Course withdrawal timings and more of which appears in the calendar.
The University organized as well as parents' orientation session where many parents and QU s academic figures attended at the female college of Arts and Science.
Meanwhile Head of students services, Abdullah Al Shanzor pointed out that the goal of organizing this meeting for parents is to introduce them to the University, the opportunities and the academic majors it offers to students as well as informing them with the activities, services, and aid it offers to enable students to reach their goals.
It is worth mentioning that QU's orientation session for female students will take place tomorrow, Thursday morning at the same time and venue. (QNA)
