Al Sadd, Al Jaish Draw in Qatar Stars League

Doha, February 16 (QNA) - Fierce rivalry was seen in ample proportion Thursday as Asian champions Al Sadd drew 1-1 against title aspirants Al Jaish in a round 17 match of the Qatar Stars League (QSL). With players seen involved arguments and near physical clashes on the pitch at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, both teams presented an aggressive game throughout the 90 minutes. Brazilian striker Anderson Martins curled in a spectacular free-kick in the 49th minute to give Al Jaish the surprise lead in the tense clash. However, Al Sadd hit back through Magid Mohammed who scored in the 53rd minute. Al Sadd now have 31 points from 17 matches and trail QSL leaders Lekhwiya in the title race. Al Jaish are a notch below Al Sadd with 26 points from 17 matches. Action in week 17 continues this week on Friday and Saturday. (QNA)
