UN General Assembly President Begins Visit to Egypt

Cairo, February 18 (QNA) - President of the UN General Assembly HE Nassir bin Abdulaziz Al Nasser arrived in Cairo today on a three-day visit, during which he will meet with senior Egyptian officials and the Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil Al Arabi. In this context, HE al Nasser will meet tomorrow, Sunday, with Egypt's Foreign Minister Amr Kamel, while he meets on Monday with the Arab League Chief Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi to discuss developments of regional and international issues, foremost is the Syrian crisis in light of the recent decision of the UN General Assembly which strongly condemned the extensive and systematic ongoing human rights violations committed by the Syrian authorities against civilians and the protesters. HE Al Nasser talks in Cairo will also cover the efforts made in the International Organization regarding the recognition of Palestine as a full member of the UN, and the obstacles faced by this move by Israel and the United States as well as the steps needed to reform the UN Security Council and activating the role of the United Nations, in particular with regard to the settlement of disputes by peaceful means.
