Cricket Chief Executive Lorgat to Speak at Security Conference in Doha

Doha, February 23 (QNA) - International Cricket Council Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat will be one of the speakers on a panel discussion of the annual International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) conference to be held here on March 14 and 15, organisers announced Thursday. The Second International Sport Security Conference will assemble key decision-makers, experts and practitioners in sport from around the globe in Doha. Lorgat was appointed Chief Executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2008 and led the governing body's response to the gunmen attacks on the Sri Lankan national cricket team in Pakistan in 2009. He will join Chairman of the International Rugby Board, Bernard Lapasset, Chairman of the Premier League Sir Dave Richards, and Chairman of the Sport Industry Group Nick Keller on the panel discussion entitled 'New Frontiers: Rewards and Challenges to Growing a Sporting Brand in New Markets'. This session will examine how best to grow sporting brands and franchises in new and emerging markets and will explore media and marketing strategies which have lead to successful expansion of brands in the past. With a focus on how to ensure a lasting sport and security legacy from major events, the ICSS also announced Kevin Underwood, Vice President for Master Planning at AECOM will be joining its Master Planning Master Class: The Importance of Planning Ahead panel. Underwood leads AECOM s master planning practice and has worked extensively on city and community plans for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. President of the ICSS Mohammed Hanzab said, "The conference provides an important platform for sharing information and exploring best practice, as well as addressing the most pressing issues in sport today.
