Arab League Chief Emphasises Importance of Al-Quds Conference

Doha, February 26 (QNA) - Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil El Arabi stressed the importance of the International Conference for the Defence of Al Quds, which opened in Doha today in a bid to provide adequate support of the Holy City to maintain its identity in the face of the Judaization policies practiced by the Israeli occupation authorities. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), El Arabi praised Qatar's role in supporting the Palestinian cause in general, and the issue of Jerusalem in particular, as it seeks to raise the issue which is of interest to every Arab and Muslim citizen in all its dimensions, so that the conference could come out with the recommendations to support the city of Jerusalem. It should be clear that Al-Quds Defense Conference is not a government conference, El Arabi said, adding that it seeks to change the concepts we have about the city of Jerusalem and to clarify the daily threat faced the it. He explained that the issue of Jerusalem will not be solved alone or in isolation from the Palestinian issue, saying the real problem is the need to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, which is only the UN Security Council can take decisions in. In response to a question about the expected financial support for Jerusalem during the conference, the Arab League Secretary General said that there is a financial assistance anticipated from the conference to support the city and its steadfast people, and there will be various projects to keep Jerusalem an Arab and Muslim city.
