Qataris Present Top Species at Bird Show

Doha, March 03 (QNA) - Twenty-four Qatari bird lovers presented some of the most beautiful species at a show of doves organised by the Qatar Society for Carrier-Pigeon Lovers here under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage. Member of the Society's Board of Directors Abdel Aziz Al Marzouki told Gulf Times, "The best Iranian pigeons in the Gulf are available only in Qatar. "For more than 50 years, we have been involved in this field. We select the most distinguished and the most beautiful species. Within the context of Gulf exhibitions in this arena, there will be an exhibition in Bahrain on March 21 for ornamental pigeon fanciers." This week exhibition noted the presence of many visitors, even from other countries, including Saudi Arabia. Some visitors hoped that the exhibitions in the future could include participants from other countries to enrich the experience and enhance friendship. The purpose of the exhibition was to popularise the hobby in general, organisers said, according to the newspaper report. Apart from exhibition, the Society also organises other activities such as carrier-pigeon races and auctions. "Shortly, there will be auctions where people can bid for carrier-pigeons," said a member. (QNA)
