Izmir mayor asks support of ambassadors for EXPO 2020

IZMIR (A.A) - March 5, 2012 - Turkey's western province of Izmir's mayor asked for the support of ambassadors from seven countries for the city's candidacy to host EXPO 2020. Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu hosted ambassadors of seven countries to Turkey, and asked for their support to Izmir. Kocaoglu hosted Venezuela's Ambassador Raul Betancourt Seeland, Cuba's Ambassador Jorge Quesada Concepcion, Peru's Ambasasdor Jorge Abarca Del Carpio, Chile's Ambassador Jorge Patricio Arancibia Reyes, Colombia's Ambassador Fernando Panesso Serna, Mexico's Ambassador Hector Manuel Rodriguez Arellano and Spain's Ambassador Cristobal Gonzalez Aller. Kocaoglu said that a voting would be held in Paris in November, 2013 for the EXPO 2020, adding that Izmir, which was a candidate to host the EXPO fair, was expecting the support of ambassadors. Seeland, who spoke on behalf of the ambassadors, said that they were glad to know Turkey and Izmir, adding that they were willing to develop commercial relations with Turkey.
