Laos ranks sixth at Southeast Asian Shooting Championship

(KPL) Laos ranks sixth at the Southeast Asia Shooting Championship in Vietnam from September 22 to 29, winning one gold medal, three silver and eight bronze.
The women’s team made up of Khamla Xayavong, Thongsy Phetdaoheuang and Lattana Inthavong win the gold medal in a 10m fast moving target long air pistol competition.
Khamla Xayavong also won one silver medal in a 10m long air pistol event.
The men’s team of Somchan Xaysommy, Duangchanh Xayphoupha and Phetlavanh Phetsalath won a silver medal and one bronze in a 50m long pistol event.
Mr Bounkhong Vong-aksone won two bronze medals in a 10m long air pistol events.
Mr Duangchan Xayphoupha and Mr Phetlavanh Phetsalath won bronze medals in a 50m prone long pistol and 50m standing long pistol events respectively.
Mr Bounkhong, Mr Bikly Pha-inkhae and Mr Ou-thone Keopaseuth win a bronze medal in the team 50m long air pistol event. Men’s team of Ms Phousaly Phommachanh, Ms Hongkham Xayalath and Ms Sikhay Chanthalangsy won a bronze medal in a 25m short pistol event.
The Lao National Shooting Federation held a welcome ceremony for the national squad in Vientiane last Friday with the participation of Standing Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad.
Fifty three million kip from the government were presented to the victorious squad.
Lt. Gen. Duangchay Phichit said the experience they gained would help them prepare for the SEA Games to be held in Vientiane next year.
The athletes will continue training in Vietnam before returning to Laos early December to
compete at the 8th National Games in Champassak, the southernmost province.
