Iranian FM says Tehran is keen to cement ties with Minsk

TEHRAN, March 7 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is keen to consolidate relations with Belarus. Salehi made the remarks during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Martynov in Minsk on Tuesday. Commenting on the membership of Iran and Belarus in the Non-Aligned Movement, Salehi said all countries should hold more consultations on regional and international issues. He also emphasized the role of Iran and Belarus in regional arena, saying the two countries have great potential which should be utilized to increase cooperation in all spheres. Salehi said that the Islamic Republic is keen to open a new chapter in ties with Belarus and promote economic cooperation. In the meeting, Martynov expressed hope that economic cooperation between the two countries would be promoted in the future. He said that the two countries, which share many affinities, should utilize their potential to promote ties more than before.
