History Will Never Forget The Late Imam's Call For Muslim Unity:Minister

Tehran, March 10, IRNA – History will not forget Islamic Republic of Iran Founder Imam Khomeini's call for unity among world Muslims, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini said here Friday. He made the remark in his lecture for prayers in a mosque in Jakarta. “Ongoing Islamic Awakening movement in the Middle East and North Africa has been inspired by Imam Khomeini's political philosophy; Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei has also asked for the unity among Muslim factions around the world,” the official added. The culture minister continued that the enemies of Islam use propaganda to provoke division among Muslim nations and show a violent face of Islam. “This propaganda against Islam by the West has roots in the decline of Liberal Democracy political system,” He added. Muslim Unity is a term that refers to establishing a good and peaceful relation among the various Islamic denominations. The primary objective of Muslim Unity is to unite all Muslims around the world. Although some divisions such as the Shi'a/Sunni issue exist among Muslims, according to the proponents of Muslim Unity these divisions are negligible and Muslims from different countries should forge closer ties with each other. The Islamic Awakening is a revolutionary wave of demonstrations and protests occurring in the Muslim world. Since 18 December 2010, there have been revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt; a civil war in Libya resulting in the fall of its regime; civil uprisings in Bahrain and Yemen; major protests in occupied Palestine against the Zionist regime, Algeria, Jordan, Morocco and Oman, and minor protests in Kuwait, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia and Western Sahara. Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini (P) was an Iranian religious leader and politician, and leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution which saw the overthrow of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the ousted Shah of Iran. Following the revolution, Imam Khomeini (P) became the country's Supreme Leader. He spent more than 15 years in exile for his opposition to the last Shah and is officially known as Imam Khomeini (P) inside Iran and by his supporters internationally./end
