PM: Taksin won’t come back soon

BANGKOK, March 12 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said Monday her elder brother former prime minister Thaksin Shinnawatra is unlikely to return to Thailand soon. Yingluck was responding to questions by journalists about the remark by Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung that he would bring Thaksin back home within this year. Yingluck said that Chalerm was just expressing his own personal view and that the possibility of her elder brother’s return depends on the Thai parliament’s reconciliation process. Yingluck also said the ongoing attempt to amend the 2010 Constitution does not aim to pave way for her elder brother’s return but rather to form a Constitution Drafting Assembly, adding that the government works to support interests of all people. Regarding movements by the yellow-clad People’s Alliance for Democracy or PAD to oppose the Charter amendments, Premier Yingluck said that her government is listening to all parties and promoting national reconciliation, and that the administration and the legislature should be allowed to function.
