Japan-based NIDEC to maintain production base in Thailand

BANGKOK, March 16 (TNA) - The founder and chairman of Japan-based NIDEC corporation, Shigenobu Nagamori, has met Thai Industry Minister Pongsvas Svasdi to confirm that his firm will remain its manufacturing base in Thailand. Pongsvas told journalists after the meeting on Thursday that NIDEC is a major Japanese manufacturer of electric motors and currently has six manufacturing facilities in Thailand, creating 23,000 jobs. The NIDEC founder is visiting Thailand this week to reopen the company's four factories, after they were forced to temporarily suspend during the country's flooding crisis late last year. The NIDEC chair has also been briefed on the Thai government's new flood prevention plans. (TNA)
