US-Zionist Regime, Symbols Of Int’l Terrorism: Velayati

Tehran, March 18, IRNA - Chief Advisor of Iran's Supreme Leader in international affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati said the hegemonic powers’ accusations against Iran are fruitless, adding that US and Zionist regime are symbols of international terrorism.
He made the remarks on Saturday on the sidelines of a ceremony held to welcome the members of Global March to Jerusalem.
“Washington and Tel-Aviv have intensified psychological war against Islamic Republic by increasing their accusations; Iran has been the victim of terrorism and has always condemned all kinds of terrorism; any country which has been opposed to Zionist regime and US is accused of terrorism; Zionist regime and US officials have always declared officially that they would use terror to eliminate their opposition around the world,” the official said.
US officials claimed on October 11 that Iran had designed a plot to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador to the United States, Adel Al-Jubeir, with a bomb and also with subsequent bomb attacks on Saudi and Zionist regime embassies in Washington. Bombings of the Saudi Arabia and Zionist regime embassies in Buenos Aires, Argentina, had also been discussed, according to US officials.
Terror scenarios in India and Georgia and claims by the Zionist regime about Iran’s role in the terrorist operations were also another phase of psychological war against Tehran.
Iranian officials have strongly dismissed the US allegations as a prefabricated scenario which is totally unfounded and described it as worn-out approaches which are based on the old hostile policies of the American-Zionist axis to sow discord among Muslims.
Chief advisor of Iran's Supreme Leader in international affairs continued that while people’s vote for Islamist political parties in revolutionized countries including Egypt and Tunisia proves the Islamist motive of recent uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa, western propaganda machine call the “Islamic Awakening” as “Arab Spring” to hide the Islamic cause of the events.
“The West aims to break the chain of resistance against Zionist regime and they are not advocates of Syrian nation; Damascus is the pioneer of fight against occupying force of Zionist regime and a big supporter of Lebanese resistance movement, elimination of anti-Zionism thoughts and eliminating Bashar Assad government are the goals of the West efforts,” he added.
Since the beginning of 2011, the Muslim world has witnessed popular uprisings and revolutions similar to what happened in Iran in 1979. Tunisia saw the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in a popular revolution in January, which was soon followed by a revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in February.
Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Saudi Arabia and Yemen have since been the scene of protests against their totalitarian rulers, who have resorted to brutal crackdown on demonstrations to silence their critics.
Bahrain however, has experienced the deadliest clashes. Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February, calling for an end to the Al Khalifa dynasty's over-40-year rule.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.
Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.
The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Bashar al-Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but the US and Zionist regime plots could spark some new unrest in certain parts of the country.
Velayati concluded that Global March to Betul Moghadas shows the Muslim public commitment to free Palestine.
The members of the international convoy of the national committee of the Global March to Jerusalem (GMJ) arrived in Tehran on Friday night. After 6 days since beginning of the Asian caravan to Jerusalem, the caravan crossed Iranian border. Passing through Zahedan, Kerman and Qom the caravan reached Tehran last night at 9 pm.
120 delegates of the caravan are preparing themselves to proceed towards Turkish border and then via Mediterranean sea dock at Beirut port on 27th March where the number will be increased to 250 delegates./end
