Thai Cabinet holds mobile meeting in Phuket
BANGKOK, March 20 (TNA) - A mobile Cabinet meeting in Thailand's southern resort Phuket province received a warm welcome Tuesday, as Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra promised to serve people in all provinces without any discrimination.
The Cabinet meeting took place at the Phuket campus of Prince of Songkla University, where a lot of red-shirt government supporters in Phuket and nearby Phang-nga province showed up and groups of complainants were present to demand solutions from the Pheu Thai Party-led government, with a complaint center set up at the entrance of the campus heavily guarded by police in uniform and plain-clothes, causing traffic congestion.
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra received flowers from her southern supporters and promised her government to serve people in all provinces equally. She also promised to look into a complaint by workers of Prince of Songkla University about unfair employment.
Representatives of a women’s organization in Phuket asked the prime minister as well to fairly treat Panita Kamphu na Ayutthaya, who was transferred recently from her position as the Permanent Secretary for Social Development and Human Security to an advisor attached to the Prime Minister's Office.
