American national arrested over children rape

BANGKOK, March 29 (TNA) - An elderly American sex offender has been caught at a rented house in Thailand's eastern resort Pattaya city in the seaside Chonburi province, following an extensive police investigation. Police Lieutenant Colonel Kreeta Tankanarat on Wednesday night led a police force from Thailand's Child and Family Protection and Trafficking Prevention Department in a raid at the rented house, based on an arrest warrant earlier issued, and apprehended the 62-year-old-American national, Gorge Edward Webb, who was then charged with sexual assaults against a minor aged under 13 years old and sexual misconducts against children aged under 15 years arbitrarily separated from parents. According to the senior police officer, the American accused, who owns a large machine-parts manufacturing plant in the United States, had tried to flee the police's arrest, after acknowledging an earlier arrest of a Thai bawd who confessed that she had arranged a 12-year-old girl for Webb twice, with only 40 baht and 100 baht paid to the young victim. Webb, whereas, paid the bawd for more than 5,000 baht for both arrangements. The American accused has initially denied all the charges. (TNA)
