University of Strasbourg to showcase Persian calligraphy
TEHRAN,April 2(MNA) -- The University of Strasbourg in France in collaboration with Iran’s Ferdowsi Foundation will be hosting an exhibition of Persian calligraphy with the central theme of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh opening on April 3.
Entitled “Prosperity in Iranian Art”, a selection of works by masters Shamseddin Moradi and Mohammad Yarahmadi will go on show until April 5.
A group of Iranian and French scholars are expected to attend the opening ceremony.
The two masters are also due to hold workshops during the exhibit focusing on morals of the Shahnameh.
The Ferdowsi Foundation and the International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation have also arranged an exhibition of photos on Zurkhaneh sports in Iran’s Cultural Attache’s Office in Paris.
Photos by Meysam Movahhedfard and Saeid Mahmudi will be on display until April 2.
The Pahlevani or Zurkhaneh sport is an Iranian martial art that combines elements of Islam, Gnosticism and ancient Persian beliefs. The Pahlevani and Zurkhaneh sport was registered on UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010.
