“Golden Collars” leads Iranian box office

TEHRAN,April 3(MNA) -- Abolqasem Talebi led Iranian box office receipts on Monday with his political movie “Golden Collars”. “Golden Collars”, also known as “Golden Leashes”, sold about 157 biliion rials (over $12m) worth of tickets during the Noruz (beginning on March 21) holiday since it opened across the country, producer Mohammad Khazaii told on Monday. The movie is now on screen in about 70 theaters across the country and that number will be increasing in the coming days, Khazaii added. “Golden Collars” is about the unrest that erupted after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner of the June 12 presidential election in 2009. Amin Hayaii, Mohammadreza Sharifinia, Hamidreza Pegah, and Mahmud Azizi are acting in “Golden Collars”. It seems the movie “The Guidance Patrol” by Saeid Soheili comes next, although there are no official reports about ticket sales. “The Guidance Patrol” narrates the story of three young men living in the southern district of the capital Tehran, who take a risk to gain some money. Hamid Farrokhnejad, Pulad Kimiaii, Jamshid Hashempur and Niusha Zeighami are among those starring in “The Guidance Patrol”. The movie is currently on screen in 15 theaters in Tehran, but not in theaters in other cities, distributor Ali Sartipi, the Filmiran director told . “The End of the Eighth Street” by Alireza Amini, “Personal Life” by Mohammad-Hossein Farahbakhsh and “Fitileh and Mahpishuni” by Arash Moayyerian come next.
