Iranian typography exhibit to celebrate Georgian mother tongue day

TEHRAN,April 4(MNA) -- The Iranian graphic designer Sahar Eshqi-Sani will hold a typography exhibition on the Georgian national Day of Mother Tongue at the Tbilisi State University.
The Faculty of Humanities of Ivane Javakhishvili of the Tbilisi State University will host the exhibition on the Day of Mother Tongue, which is celebrated annually on April 14.
The exhibit entitled “The Mystery of Georgian Script” will run from April 11 to 20.
The day of Mother Tongue is observed annually in Georgia on April 14. The date commemorates the retention of Georgian as the official language in Georgia as a result of events that occurred in 1978.
In 1978, a new constitution adopted by the Georgian Soviet Socialistic Republic deprived the Georgian language of its status as an official state language.
Approximately 100,000 people assembled on Rustaveli Avenue on April 14. Participants in that peaceful protest rally categorically demanded the legitimacy of the Georgian language as their mother tongue.
