Iran insists on need to end Syria violence, renews support for Assad

TEHRAN, April 8 (MNA) – A top Iranian diplomat says Tehran’s policy toward Syria is based on a cessation of violence, doing reforms, and supporting the government of Beshar Assad. “Iran’s approach toward the Syria crisis centers around a cessation of violence and killing in Syria, no foreign political and military intervention, the protection of the Beshar Assad government, and the necessity of conducting domestic reforms,” Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated on Saturday. Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting of the joint Iran-Oman strategic committee which was held in Muscat on Saturday.
